With what’s happening in India it’s obvious that Covid-19 is anything but over. Really the only thing we can do is to vaccinate as many people as possible and as fast as possible. Today was The Shower of Hope ‘s 9th site that vaccinations were given out. Every single person vaccinated is one less person spreading Covid-19 and more importantly one less person dying from Covid-19.

Thank you to Diva Jones and Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church for hosting vaccines with us today and of course to the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services for providing the vaccines at our sites. Unhoused people are by far the most vulnerable demographic to Covid-19 and our locations in South LA like this one are critical to getting Black and Latino unhoused individuals vaccinated. 4 years ago when we started The Shower of Hope, we started with the idea of using one mobile shower to provide showers on the weekends. 4 years later we use 9 mobile shower trailers in 27 different sites in LA County, Riverside and Bakersfield.

This in addition to operating 2 Safe Parking sites and 2 housing facilities for unhoused or housing insecure community college students. At the end of the day the truth is achieving all this in 4 years wasn’t easy nor was it ever something we thought we would be doing. At the end of the day it’s only possible because of all you our volunteers and donors who keep believing in us. Thank you to all of you for believing in us and please don’t ever stop pushing us to do more!
